2014 High School Leadership in the Arts Workshop

The Wilson Pickett, Jr. Legacy, LLC is excited to announce the 2014 High School Leadership in the Arts Workshopguest speaker. On the schedule is Atlanta’s own community and civic leader, Judge Glenda Hatchett, author of Dare to Take Charge: How to Live Your Life on Purpose. Workshop topics will include: Emerging Leadership in the Arts and Cultivating Your Personal Creativity.

Twenty-five student leaders in the arts will represent the following area schools:

  • Coretta Scott King Young Women’s Leadership Academy High School

  • Dunwoody High School

  • Frederick D ouglass High School

  • KIPP Atlanta Collegiate High School

  • Martin Luther King, Jr. High School

  • North Atlanta High School

  • Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School

  • Pebblebrook High School

  • Reda n High School

  • Westlake High School

This engaging educational experience will be held on the campus of Morehouse College on October 4, 2014.

Recently President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama introduced Wilson Pickett’s 1965 hit, “In the Midnight Hour,” at  In Performance at the White House: Memphis Soul. The classic hit was performed that night by Booker T. & The MGs. Check out the video below:

The Wilson Pickett/Brandon Miller Scholarship

The Wilson Pickett Scholarship Fund was established in 2010 to support deserving students with tuition, fees and leadership skills. The Wilson Pickett Jr. Legacy Foundation LLC is committed to assisting students interested in furthering their creative dreams. Four scholarships have been awarded to deserving recipients at Spelman and Morehouse Colleges, and local high schools.

Students interested in applying for the Wilson Pickett Jr./Brandon Miller Scholarship must demonstrate creative potential, academic achievement and financial need.

Leadership in Arts Workshop: Saturday November 9, 2013

The Wilson Pickett, Jr. LLC will hold a one-day workshop at Spelman College for high school students who are outstanding leaders in the arts. The workshop will include leadership behavior, audition and interview techniques, résumé writing, and college applications.  To apply submit your application to
