Meet Ms. Mary Virginia Lee-Harris!

Ms. Mary Virginia Lee-Harris, born and raised in Prattville, Alabama, has lived there all of her 84 years.

Though she did not meet Wilson, she’s always felt like she knew him through the friendship her mother, Annie Mae Lee, shared with his mother, Lena. Remembering him as “a nice person,” she also remembers him singing gospel songs in church.

Ms. Lee-Harris decided to take up a new hobby and began crafting in 2000. In celebration of the Wilson Pickett Music & Arts Festival and Wilson’s legacy, she decided to make a hat, a pair of earrings, and a fan using the festival advertisement (pictured here). Ms. Lee-Harris is so happy to share the one-of-a-kind items she concepted and handcrafted with Wilson’s family and friends.

While Ms. Lee-Harris has never been to a Wilson Pickett Music & Arts Festival, she is more than excited to be a part this year and we’re happy to welcome her!
